Licences + attribution

Herden is distributed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. Every Host installation includes the full licence and attribution notice under~/.local/share/doc/herden.

Upstream work

Herden includes and modifies software from the Apache-2.0 projectsherdr andHeeler.

The native iOS application, plugin, relay, and original landing site began from Heeler, including the iOS QR scanner, secure pairing flow, and file upload foundation. The Host runtime began from herdr. Herden’s work includes product integration, moving inherited Host-side pairing into Rust, compact Pairing Codes, Space-first navigation, shared terminal controls, and the iOS Share Extension.

Neither upstream project endorses Herden. Their names are used only to describe the origin of the software.

Third-party components

The iOS app uses pinned builds of libssh2, OpenSSL, and libghostty-spm. Their required notices ship with the corresponding application or release bundle. The website uses JetBrains Mono under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
